What's also been proven is that world class training facilities and high-level competition programs attract world class athletes, and to accommodate those athletes on-site schooling and living residences are essential.  Incorporated into the design of St. Albert Sports City is a grade 7-12 school academy and dormitories for those athletes attending from outside the Greater Edmonton Area.

The prerequisite to sustain high-level sports programs is the necessity to establish mechanisms that have the capability to generate sufficient funds on an ongoing basis.  SAS Sports & Entertainment Group has Integrated fund-generating mechanisms into the development of St. Albert Sports City.  These will include different applications, e.g., special membership levies, athlete assistance through existing government funding programs, corporate sponsorship programs and a sports foundation already in place.
